The Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) is a joint program between the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The University of Miami has a rich history in transplantation. The program began in October 1970 and has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive transplant centers in the world. The transplant faculty perform more than 500 transplant procedures annually, playing a major role in kidney, liver, intestinal, heart, lung, and pancreas transplantation. MTI is also a leader in multi-visceral transplantation.

The Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) ranks among the top U.S. medical centers for total solid-organ transplantation. More than half of the reported multi-organ transplants in the world have been performed at MTI which is the only Florida hospital to perform every type of organ transplant. At the Miami Transplant Institute, we understand that undergoing an organ transplant is a life changing experience and we help patients to cope with the physical, emotional, and financial difficulties that come along with it. MTI’s programs are internationally known and recognized by the U.S. Department of HHS as among the top 1% in the U.S. in kidney transplants and top 20% in liver and pancreas transplants. Within Florida, it is the only transplant program within a 280 mile radius and it also attracts international collaboration and patient referrals from across the world.
